Chinese Lecturer (Iowa City, IA)


 
The Department of Asian and Slavic Languages and Literatures at The University of Iowa has an opening for a full-time lecturer position in Chinese Language to begin in August 2016. The initial appointment will be for one year, with a possible re-appointment of up to two additional years, and renewable thereafter in three-year increments pending demonstrated excellence in teaching and collegiate approval. Salary and benefits will be commensurate with experience. Responsibilities include: teaching three classes per semester that may include first to fifth-year Chinese language, supervising graduate teaching assistants, and assisting the Chinese language program coordinator with program development.

Requirements: native or near-native fluency in Chinese and English; PhD or M.A. in Second Language Acquisition, Applied Linguistics, or related fields; extensive experience in teaching Chinese at the college/university level in North America; experience in technology-based Chinese L2 instruction and in curriculum development.
